I competed in my first major triathlon in December 2013 when a friend suggested doing the Tinman Triathlon together. I remember jumping at the opportunity since I’d done a few classic Weetbix tryathlons growing up but nothing serious since. Easy to say, it was epic and afterwards I was hooked!

During my first season, I made quick progress in the age group circuit and went on to win my AG at the Oceania Sprint Nationals in Kinloch. This gave me the opportunity to represent NZ in Canada at the ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championships where to my surprise placed 5th in the 20-24 age group category.

This made me more competitive and committed to seeing how far within triathlon I could push myself. I continued to advance within the sport winning multiple National age group titles over the years to come. Then in July 2015, I decided to go full-time as a triathlete to focus all my time and energy on improving in triathlon. With aspirations of becoming a professional, aiming for success at an elite level and representing NZ in International competitions.

Since pursuing triathlon full-time, I’m proud to have excelled as a triathlete. I’ve competed around the globe within the ITU ‘s Continental Cup series, based myself in Belgium for a season with team Squadra, won two National Standard Championship titles, two silver medals at the ITU age group World Championships and most recently placed first at the Rotorua Half Ironman. These are all huge successes in accomplishing the goals I set myself back in 2013 when I decided to continue to pursue triathlon.

Every day I’m maturing within the sport and each race I realise more and more that experience is so important. I’m excited for what the future offers with continuous hard work towards living out my dream of racing as an elite triathlete at the highest level.
